Some of the most memorable diving on the Lebanese coast, and elsewhere, sits between 18 and 40 metres: the deeper reef structures, the wall dives, the wrecks that only start to make sense once you're actually at their depth. The NAUI Deep Diver course exists to get you there with real margin for error, not just a certification card.
This is not a decompression diving course, and it does not turn you into a technical diver. What it does teach is everything a recreational diver needs to plan and execute deep dives responsibly: nitrogen narcosis and how it actually feels and behaves at different depths, decompression sickness and the physiology behind it, and how to use a dive computer to manage your profile rather than relying on guesswork.
Training covers gas management specific to deeper dives, where your reserve calculations change and your margin for a problem shrinks. You will also work through emergency procedures for the specific situations deep diving creates: a shared-air ascent from 35 metres is not the same skill as one from a 9-metre confined-water dive, and this course treats it that way.
Deep diving rewards preparation more than any other recreational specialty. By the end of this course you will understand not just how deep you can go, but how to decide, dive by dive, whether you should.
Certification qualifies you to plan and make dives in the 18-40 metre range with a similarly qualified buddy, applying the gas planning, ascent discipline, and contingency habits the course drills. It pairs naturally with Enriched Air Nitrox, which stretches your allowable bottom time exactly where deep dives need it most.

How deep does the Deep Diver course go?
Training dives build progressively within the 18-40 metre range, to the full 130-foot recreational limit, with gas planning and ascent discipline drilled at every step.
What is nitrogen narcosis and should I worry?
It's a reversible, depth-induced dullness of judgement most divers begin noticing beyond 30 metres. The course teaches you to recognize it in yourself and your buddy and to manage it, the fix is simply ascending until it clears.
What are the prerequisites?
You must be 18 or older with an Advanced Scuba Diver certification (or equivalent). The deep dives in your Advanced course are the natural on-ramp.
Is this technical diving?
No, Deep Diver stays within recreational no-decompression limits. If depth keeps calling after this course, technical training (decompression procedures, overhead environments, specialized gas) is the next world over.
